Little Boys Are A Lot Of Work
Be careful, you will break it
It is his, please don’t take it
Take the bats outside and don’t hit my walls
This is not the place to throw all those balls
My couch is not a playground so get off it please
Don’t jump on your brother, you will break his knees
Take the rough play outside and run off some steam
Don’t gang up on each other, play as a team
It is his turn I said, now don’t make me yell
Give it back I said and try to play well
Give each other a hug and say sorry for that
For that was his poor little head on which you sat
Stop yelling, no crying
I know when you are lying
No whining, stop fighting
Is that my wall on which you are writing?
Little boys are a lot of work twenty -four hours a day
Being a mom is much work I do say
It starts when you wake and ends after dark
No one said this was a walk in the park
But some day they get will get it the more that you
teach
It is sinking in every time that you preach
Your words feel like they go on deaf ears
But you are impressionable during these years
They will grow and grow and from you they will learn
Just when you least expect it they will give up their
turn
The fighting will change and their friendships will
grow
And the niceness they get is from you and it will show
So be patient and loving and get through these years
Get through the fighting and get through the tears
At the end will be children who are good to all others
They learned and experimented on all of their brothers
